Liverpool Away Carabao Cup 3rd Round Lost 2 – 1
The 3 London Saints musketeers set of to Liverpool more in hope after Saturdays inept performic at Hull for Saints 3rd round Carabao cup match. Staying at different places but 2 of us managed to meet up in the Wetherspoons, Thomas Frost. Using the same logic as at Norwich I did have a strong beer, Wobbly Bob (6%) in the hope a similar result would emerge. Liverpool thought Saints were a bit of threat by starting their £125 million striker, Alexander Isak , 11 changes from their match with Everton. He nearly scored in the first minute but for a great save from McCarthy. Saints where surprising me with their control of the game and should have scored when Adam Armstrong chipped on to the bar only for Scienza to head the rebound wide. I am not sure which was the worse miss but I am going with the header. 40 seconds latter Isak had the ball in the back of the net after a bad defensive pass from McCarthy to Quarshie. If you don’t take your chances you get punished. Saints still continued to surprize me creating problems for Liverpool and substitute Shea Charles poked in the equaliser from six yards after a mistake from Endo from an out swinging corner, his first goal for Saints. I just said to Mick penalties are coming when on 88 minutes Ekitike had a simple tap in from Chiesa’s cross. The stupid guy then takes his shirt of to show his name and gets a second yellow card, he is of (his first was for dissent). So saints still had a chance to find an equaliser but to no avail. Saints go out of the Cup with their heads held high.
Three Man of the Match to choose from :-
1. Shea Charles for his goal and work rate
2. Adam Armstrong he makes a difference and he nearly scored
3. Ryan Manning always trying
