London Saints

Calling all Runners! Fleet Half-Marathon

Some of you will know that the London Saints cricket squad are embarking on a 14-day tour of Trinidad and Tobago next May and, just as we did when we toured Sri Lanka in 2006, we have decided to raise money for charities in the areas where we will be touring.

At the same time, there is a need to improve the levels of fitness in the squad as you may be surprised to know that some of us have put on a few pounds over the years! I have given the squad a collective weight loss target of 20 stone and we have started a self-sponsored weight loss campaign to start raising money.

To give ourselves a fitness target, I have reserved some places in the Fleet Half-Marathon on Sunday March 16th, which gives us 5 months to get fit.

I already have 11 volunteers from the cricket squad but want to open it up to anyone from the London Saints fraternity to make it a much bigger club event. I will set up a “LSSC Fleet Half-Marathon” Just-Giving page so that anyone can sponsor the club as a whole.

Fleet was chosen as it is halfway between London and Southampton, so hopefully close to most of us.

Please let me know if you are interested in taking part (the entrance fee is £21.50), if you are fit enough now or want to get fit over the next 5 months and join with the LSSC fund-raising event.

I can be contacted on davethomas@londonsaints.com
