Pool Team on the verge of second place

A great night started off badly with Mick Mc losing the first frame. He was a tad unlucky as he cut a fine black into the far left pocket only for the white to go up and down the table and also pot his opponents ball. He claimed it was the best shot of the night but the Captain maintained he hit the white to hard!!

The rest of the night went much better with Stevie G fresh off the plane from Brazil and still in his stupid looking beach shorts just about fluked his way to victory with the help of several Vodka & Red Bulls to keep himself awake. This was followed by a fine victory by a very dapper looking Captain Reg and good wins by DT, Trigger and Andy. Our form then continued into the doubles winning all 3 frames to finish 8–1 winners.

This now puts us into 3rd place in the league, 11 points behind second placed Middlesbrough A but with 3 games in hand. We still have a very outside chance of pinching the league title from Newcastle. They would need to lose against the bottom club West Brom for us to stand any chance. Next year we will definitely not be playing them first match like we usually do and we will be playing them at the White Lion not their dingy hole at the Dolphin.

Our remaining 3 fixtures are all at the White Lion, first up is Hull next Tuesday – 4th June, then Exeter on Thursday 20th June and finally Nottingham Forest on Monday 24th June. Followed by the Clydie Weekes Cup in July (and hopefully August as I would love to win this for the old boy!)
