Cricket Tour of Trinidad and Tobago, May 2014
The London Saints cricket team is planning a tour of Trinidad and Tobago in May 2014, and the organising committee are seeking interested parties, whether they are players or those simply looking to tag along for the ride.
The plan is to offer a one-week and two-week option, with the first week spent in Tobago (a more family-friendly island) with the second week in Trinidad. We are hoping to arrange four games of cricket, two on each island.
To avoid the higher prices of Carnival time and the England tour to the West Indies in March, we have decided that late May is going to be the most cost-effective option. Chartered flights are cheaper going midweek than scheduled flights so the plan is to fly out on Wednesday 21st May. However, those who plan to bring children may wish to fly out on the scheduled weekend flights (Saturday 24th/Sunday 25th) and take advantage of the fact that the following week will be half-term for most schools. The scheduled weekend flights will be more expensive so an alternative is taking kids out of school for a few days and joining the rest of us on the cheaper Wednesday flight.
We plan to take over a couple of B&Bs completely on each island so whilst it will not have the same luxury of the 5-star hotel we stayed in on our Sri Lanka tour, we are thinking about keeping the cost down for everyone and it will have its own different appeal as we make the B&B base our home. It won’t be a Blackpool-esque arrangement, it’ll have a swimming pool (for our sole use), bar and restaurant, and be a short walk from the beach.
Prices have yet to be finalised but we hope to get the two-week option for a figure between £1,000 and £1,200 which I’m sure you’ll agree is very reasonable for two weeks in the West Indies.
Our esteemed Treasurer Nick Head has kindly agreed to collect monies from anyone who wants to start saving monthly.
