London Saints

Disappointing at Donny

Standing in for Eric.

Arrived at the ground 10 minutes before kick of, Mick even had time to get a hot dog.

Match  starts with a minute’s applause for Garry Speed.

Saints start without Lambert and Chaplow (expected), De Ridder, Fox and Schneiderlin starting.

Two dodgy liner decisions in the first 3 minutes even Mick agrees with one.

Kevin Davies makes a smart save from ex Saint Gillet as the host make a bright start.

Saints start to string some passes together and win a free kick in the 14th minute which Schneiderlin and Fox bizarrely confuse everybody to give the ball away.

Guly has the best effort for Saints on the 32nd minute with Ikerne in the Doncaster goal making a good save.

Guly also heads of the line from a Doncaster corner.

Half time 0 – 0.  Saints looked like they were going to take control but never quite made it.

Saints come out first looking like they meant business.

Barnes on for Goulan for Doncaster and De Ridder up front with Guly and Schneiderlin dropping back for Saints.

With no side dominating and a bit of head tennis, the rain starts to make the surface a bit slippy.  Guly nearly scores for Saints but from the resultant break the ball is cut back for Billy Sharp to score in the bottom right corner.

Saints bring on Barnard and Holmes on for Cork and De Ridder with 20 minutes to go.

Saints huffed and puffed but never looked like scoring in the remaining time including 4 minutes of added time.

Saints again lose to a side in the bottom 3 and a team playing in red.

In the end it was a poor performance from Saints especially  the 2nd half which Saints to be honest did not deserve to get anything from even though the Doncaster keeper did make some good saves.

A quick exit from the ground to try and find a bus. No bus so a brisk walk back to the station to get the 5.35 train back to London for London Saint’s Christmas drinks.

LSSC Man of the match was difficult as lot of supporters were not happy with the performance. In the end it was overwhelmingly Fonte with Guly a surprising 2nd . I think Guly does get a lot of stick, he did at times look lazy but he had the Saints best efforts and he did head of the line.  Not a good match for my first match report !
