Lee Barnard signs
Southampton manager Alan Pardew has completed the signing of Lee Barnard from Southend on a two-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old, who has signed at St Mary’s, is available for this weekend’s FA Cup fourth-round clash against Ipswich.
The former Tottenham striker scored 20 goals during his first season with Southend last year and has already found the net 17 times in the current campaign which had alerted the attention of Leeds.
Saints academy graduate Matthew Paterson has left the club to sign a permanent deal with the Shrimpers.
