SAINTS RAMPANT!

Saints 9 – 0 Sunderland

London Saints all conquering pool team carried on where they left off by pocketing a 9 – 0 win. The newly promoted Black Cats had no luck as they were in with a chance in most frames but couldn’t hold their collective nerve against rampant Southampton.

Due to there being a new manager at the Royal Star, Ray emailed the team insisting that everyone turn up promptly for 8pm. Everyone knew it would never happen and it didn’t, Ray strolling in at quarter past and in an even more spectacularly inept piece of management sending Lester to the wrong pub. Frantic phone calls giving bus directions ensued.

Billy was first up in the singles and started proceedings by taking frame one, Calvin Klein pants on display as usual as he was bending over the table. With Christmas coming there will be a team collection to buy him a “thong”. Keith continued the good work, coming from behind to win frame two with the help of a foul on the black. Ray and Dave always looked in control even when their balls ended up in tricky positions at the back end of their respective matches. Sunderland had their peckers up when Garry looked in deep trouble with his opponent having two shots on the black to win the game. The Mackem fell down on the job however and Garry coolly slotted home to put Saint 5 – 0 up. With the match won Lester brought up the rear magnificently and showed his class with an easy victory.

After a break for some nosh and well earned lubrication the doubles went the same way as the singles with the Sunderland pairs going down one by one. On Halloween it really was a nightmare for Sunderland who must have found it difficult to swallow but they were a great bunch of lads who played in the right spirit.
