Saints 8 Sheff Weds 1

Wednesday, April 4, 2007

A strong London Saints team saw off Sheffield Wednesday in a double header in Fleet Street last night.

We won the first match quite comfortably 8 – 1 after captain Reg had a jammy win in the first frame with his opponent potting the black only to see the white ball roll into the opposite corner pocket. Reg, Keith Richardson, Colin Riley, Billy Bower and Lester the pop star all won their singles and double games with the only loser being Dave the Postie in his singles.

The second match was a bit closer with the match all square after 4 frames but in true London Saints fashion a storming finish saw us run out 6 – 3 winners. The only team change from the first match was Garry Psycho Burrell replacing Lester the pop star. This time Reg, Colin and Dave won both there matches with Lester and Garry losing their singles and Billy/Keith losing their doubles match.

This match got off in fiery fashion with Billy’s opponent ready to win his singles match by potting an easy black, he rammed the ball into the corner pocket only to see the ball disappear down the hole and somehow pop back out a good 2 seconds later. He then went on to accuse Billy of bad sportsmanship by not conceding the frame as he instisted the ball had crossed the line.

He then stormed out of the bar but not until he had given the food table a good kicking!! It was one of the most freakiest shots I have seen on a pool table but the oppositions reaction just added to the fun of the evening. The league table now stands as follows:-

P W L F A PTS

West Brom 6 5 1 32 23 42
Exeter 7 4 3 30 33 38
Saints 4 3 1 26 10 32
Sheff Wed 7 1 6 27 46 29
Derby 5 2 3 21 24 25

Next match is West Brom at the Royal Star next Thursday 12th April which is a must win game to close the gap on the current leaders and retain our title.
