London Hibs 4, London Saints 1
A year ago Tom Carr expressed an interest in developing London Saints FC. However, it was felt that immediately rejoining the APSCIL league (which currently consists of 21 supporters club's teams) would be too much of a commitment.
Having played a few friendlies, we were invited by the league to enter the knockout competition where we drew London Hibs, who currently lie 5th in Division 1.
It has to be said that we didn't get off to the best of starts and while some of the players were still getting to know each other, Hibs had the tie wrapped up within the opening 20 minutes by scoring four times. From then on we held our own and were the better side in the second half with Mark pulling one back.
Not the best of results but it was good to see a London Saints team in red and white stripes on Hackney Marshes.

Our side consisted of 9 Saints fans and as is common in the modern game, we included 3 loanees from salubrious quarters.
Our line-up consisted of - Tom Carr in goal (due to flu). Defenders were Jonny, Steve, Frederick Ohlsson (Swedish Saint), Rich (on loan from Man U). In midfield were Matt Stephen, Joe Tang, Felix (Arsenal) & James Wallis. Up front were Jack and Mark (Chelsea).
Scorer: Mark
Joe Mitchell replaced Jonny at the interval.

The rest of this season will consist of 5 a sides and 11 a side friendlies but Tom does need more players as he feels he has a core of 8 players. If anyone is interested please get in touch (his details are on the contacts page).

London Saints FC - a potted history
London Saints last played a competitive match at the end of the 2001/02 season when we finished bottom of APFSCIL Division 3. We resigned from the league having played since it's inception in 1980.
We won Division 2 in both 1988 and 1994. In 1995 we achieved our highest position in finishing runners-up to London Eire in Division 1.
We were not always succesful on the pitch but the team were probably the most sociable off it. End of the season tours became part of LSSC folklore with matches played in Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Mallorca amongst other parts of Europe. Here's hoping that the club can resurrect itself and continue and that history can continue.
