Love takes all

Saturday, November 17, 2007

Tom Love, playing off a handicap of 6, took the 2007 London Saints Masters in impressive style at Mardyke Valley Golf Club, Ockenden, Essex.

A disappointing turnout of London Saints members was supplemented by a healthy contingent of Trigger's Essex associates.

The competition was a stableford event played in excellent weather with the course in superb nick once the frost had thawed. With the course to ourselves it remains a mystery as to why the second and third groups took five and a half hours to complete their round - 90 minutes behind the first group.

Tom also picked up the 'longest drive' and 'nearest the pin' awards and was therefore able to take advantage of Trigger's interesting choice of prizes. Peter Berkeley took the runners-up trophy on a countback. Reggie Betts also picked up a trophy, the wooden spoon, as once again he struggled to impress in a London Saints event.
