London Saints vs. Norwich – Chiswick CSSC Ground 18/11/07 2pm kick off

After several months of recruitment and one practice session, London Saints football team played their first 11-a-side game for five years. Fourteen players were available for the match against Norwich, who are sitting at the top of the APSFCIL league.

The team arrived at the ground in cold, blustery, and wet conditions 2 hours before kick off – this gave everyone a chance to learn names and to work out positions.

The game began with London Saints under pressure – but the defence was strong and played the offside trap well (although no linesman!) to stem the attacks from Norwich. 30 minutes in and a glut of goals, this time beating the offside trap, saw Norwich well ahead before half-time – although London Saints hit the cross bar after some well worked play.

2nd half: After some reorganisation – the defence sat back and the midfield began to string some passes together with Norwich unable to extend their lead.

Midway through the 2nd half saw another glut of goals which put the game beyond Saints.

It was always going to be tough playing the first game against the best team in the league – but there is a group of lads that are interested, and the team is meeting regularly on Sundays evenings. If anyone is interested, please contact tom.carr@bsi-global.com
