LSSC darts off to a flyer

Friday, September 28, 2007

London Saints took all three pairs games to open up an early 3-0 lead and followed this up with winning the first team game. There was a quick finish in the opening pairs game with Mick hitting x8 to get the seasons opening point. John followed up his pairs match with Nick by slotting in x3, to his great delight. Keith and Colin ran out comfortable winners and this amazing form also carried us to victory in the team game. The team then had to go outside the pub for some fresh air as nobody could believe this start.

However, as with the football team, there was a bit of a wobble in the middle somewhere. Martyn surprisingly lost his singles to Exeter's best player (he was hitting the twenties more often than not!). A half marathon of a game saw Mick eventually win his singles with x1. If the crowd thought Mick's game was long, they were in for a shock as John's game was timed around the 25/30 minute mark - with John losing out as the night stars were drawing in.

Keith went down, but captain Nick secured the win and Colin (who faces a serious fine for being very late arriving) followed up for London Saints to lead 7-3 with the last team match and beer leg to come. Martyn and Colin had to depart early (trying to avoid buying the beers lads?) and shamefully we lost the beer leg.

Exeter proved to be a great bunch of lads and the pub had an air of worldliness (if that’s a word) of the bar and the bar staff (I cannot say anymore on this in public).

A good start, but will it last?!

Team: Martyn Brockwell, Mick Strickland, John Smith, Nick Head (Captain), Keith Richardson, Colin Riley.
