Mick, did you throw this?
Saturday, April 28, 2007
London Saints' dart team recorded their 3rd win of the season, once again by a 6-5 margin.
Our opponents were Chester who much to Mick's delight had switched the game to our home pub, the Kings Arms.
We suffered an earlier blow when darts legend Martyn Brockwell had to drop out due to the lack of trains running in Kent, this meant we had to forfeit one of the singles, play the team games one short, and one of the doubles one short.
We started well with both Mick / John and Nick /Colin winning their doubles. Then Colin had to take on a pair single handed and narrowly lost. We then quite comfortably won the first team game.
The singles were next John lost his , then Mick, Nick and Colin all won. This is when the team collapsed after reaching the safety mark of six points, beer drinking then started in a serious fashion, Nick then lost his second singles and we in the all important second team game, the beer leg, we lost again.
After consulting well known sportsman Charlie Laing on the Norwich trip he came up with the following : our perforance will improve slowly until we had consumed the optimum amount of two and a half pints after which our performance will decline rapidly. Those of you on the Norwich trip will now how difficult iit is to restrict Mick and John to six pints let alone two
and a half.
The highest score of the night was by the captain who scored 140 twice!
Brown ale moment was John opening scores of his singles was 10,8,6. (A pattern was emerging!)
Team was:
Mick Strickland
Nick Head
John Smith
Colin Riley
Current record played 6, won 3, lost 3
Next fixture 21st May away to Newcastle at home!
