As things go from bad to worse in Brisbane, another mediocre bunch of players celebrated a year that included a fantastic tour to Sri Lanka as London Saints CC held their annual cricket dinner. Even Andy Jones was allowed to be there meaning that he has attended as many celebrations as matches.

Once 'Where's John' turned up (predictably getting lost on the way), DT held his review of the year - the playing record does not make for good reading-
Played 12, Won 3, Drew 1, Lost 8 (3 abandoned)
A number of 'career' milestones were mentioned, most notably Trevor Mayhew reaching 3,000 runs.
In 2006, Trevor was top run scorer with 210, Peter Berkeley top wicket taker with 16 whilst Aaron Frood was good with his hands taking 4 catches.

Dave mentioned how 2006 had proved to be more of a struggle in fielding 11 players than in previous years.
Peter Berkeley took the 'Player of the Year' award for the second season in succession and in accepting the trophy emplored the squad to make themselves available for matches more often in the coming season. He also thanked DT and Kumar for their contribution in arranging the Sri Lanka trip.

Garry Burrell took the coveted 'Duck Trophy' and also awarded DT with a commemorative award for all his hard work.
The umpire that makes Billy Bowden appear staid and boring, 'Big Dave' Smith took the bizarre 'Champagne Moment' trophy for his 'Wide, Over' call in Somerset - well you had to be there!

Next season will see a similar fixture list to 2006 although there is talk of an 'Oldies versus Youngies' challenge match (worryingly the 'split' appears to be 45 years). We have also been invited to play Phil Rogers team in Edinburgh. We are hoping that this will take place in September.
