London Saints 11 London Pompey 9

London Saints 11 London Pompey 9

Friday, March 7, 2008

Gloating rights over Pompey are rare but London Saints saw of their Pompey counterparts with an 11 -9 victory in a pool and darts extravaganza at the Royal Star, City Road.

Portsmouth took an early lead with a couple of darts wins but were soon overhauled by the red n' white machine with Trevis (darts) and Betts and Berkeley (pool) contributing to a solid start which saw us 5-3 ahead. Pompey rallied and it all became a bit nip n'tuck at the buffet break - 7 a piece.

Pompey got gobby while the Saints filled their faces and that was all we needed. Beers flowed so not really sure what happened but with Wath and Mick Stanley having succumbed a close pool game the night stood at 10-9 with the dodgy pairing of Betts and Richardson on the occy.

Like most of the darts contests, it went down to both pairs desperately aiming for the finish but Reggie hit the double 1 to clinch the tie. After that he just embarrassed himself belly flopping and immersing himself in a London Pompey flag!

Well done the team of - Reggie Betts, Keith Richardson, Terry Trevis, Pete Berkeley, Mick Stanley, Paul Wathan, Nick Head & Trigger!

And Smudge's support!
