Andrew Surman has completed his move to Wolves.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who rose through Saints’ academy to become a first team regular, has completed the first major move of his career by joining Premier League new boys Wolves for a fee believed to be around £1.2m rising to a possible £2m depending on appearances etc.
Surman has spent most of his life living in Bitterne and has recently had his first child but with Saints sinking to League One has decided the time is now right to move on.
The England under-21 international made a total of 146 first team appearances for Saints, scoring 18 goals, and has signed a three year contract at Molineux with the option for a further year.
“To come to the Premier League and with a club as big as Wolves is fantastic,” said the 22 year old.
Surman made 142 appearances for Saints, scoring 18 goals.
“We’d had a disappointing season at Southampton. I think we had enough quality in the team to be able to do something but unfortunately it all went sour and we ended up getting relegated, which is never nice to have on your CV”, he added.
