Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Alan Bennett who has forged a good centre back partnership with new signing Andrew Davies has returned to Reading and will not be returning

In a surprising move, former Saints midfielder Matthew Oakley has joined Leicester from Derby. The Rams Captain has signed for a fee of £500,000

Former Saints loanee Phil Ifill has joined Championship rivals Colchester United for a fee of around £350,000. The news will disappoint George Burley who was hoping to sign the full back who performed well in his time at St Marys.

Gregorsz Rasiak rates the chances of him leaving during January as 50/50

Plymouth midfielder, David Norris, a long-term target of George Burley looks increasingly likely to join Championship rivals Ipswich Town as they prepare an improved offer.

Rumours that Jhon Viafara could be on his way for a similar fee increase with Coventry and Sheffield United interested.

Third choice goalkeeper Michael Poke has joined high-flying Blue Square Premier side Torquay on a month-long loan. He has left to gain some match practice after recently recovering from undergoing knee surgery at the start of the season.

Former Saints utility man, Jo Tessem has signed for Bournemouth having been on trial for the past month.
