David Prutton is set to return to Nottingham Forest after Southampton allowed him to talk to them ahead of Wednesday's transfer deadline.

Saints signed Prutton from Forest for £2.5m in January 2003, but he has failed to figure this season. A number of clubs have reportedly shown an interest in the 25 year-old, including Hull, Leeds and Stoke but he is obviously banking on Forest achieving promotion to the Championship this season.
Saints boss George Burley said: "David said he feels he needs regular first-team football but I can't offer him that."
Burley hopes to complete the signing of Poland striker Marek Saganowski from Troyes before the deadline.
