Saints defender Danny Higginbotham has joined Championship rivals Stoke City on a three year deal.
The former Manchester United and Derby player was put on the list three weeks ago after refusing to sign a new, improved contract.
The truth has yet to really come out as to the real reason why he wanted to leave. His initial dispute with the club was over money although this appeared not to be the case of late. No mention has been made of him looking for a move back North.
Whatever the reason, it would appear to be an unambitious move on his part as he joins former Pompey manager, Tony Pulis, in the Potteries.
