Kelvin Davis has had his appeal against a misconduct charge turned down by the FA and will serve a three-match ban.
Davis was charged with violent conduct after appearing to kick out at Stoke striker Jon Parkin in Saints' 2-1 defeat at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.
The incident was missed by referee Neil Swarbrick but the FA charged the 30-year-old after reviewing video footage.
Davis' suspension begins in tonight’s Colchester at St Mary's. Bartosz Bialkowski will take his place - a change that many supporters have been clamouring for.
