Marcelo Sarmiento will get a baptism of fire in English football as he makes his first start for Saints at Millwall tonight.
The Argentinean midfielder joined on a season-long loan in the summer - the final signing before the new board of directors came in. He has so far made just one senior appearance, coming off the bench in the Carling Cup win over Yeovil, as well as two reserve outings.
Tonight he will be handed a full debut in the second round of the competition as Saints travel to London to face League One strugglers Millwall in the hostile atmosphere of the New Den.
George Burley will be ringing the changes as a number of players are nursing wounds from Saturday’s battle with Plymouth, including Jhon Viafara who lost three teeth. Also missing will be Rudi Skacel, Inigo Idiakez and Gregor Rasiak.
