George Burley admits he has been impressed by Czech trialist Mario Licka.
The midfielder, who spent a trial spell with West Ham last summer, played the full 90 minutes for Saints in a 1-1 draw with Bristol City on Tuesday night and appeared against Cheltenham lat night.
Licka's current contract with FC Slovacko is due to expire imminently, and the 24-year-old has taken advantage of the chance to impress at St. Mary's.
Burley admits he has taken a shine to the Czech hopeful, and that he will continue to run the rule over the midfielder as he looks for further reinforcements.
"Mario did well, he showed a lot of energy, worked hard and it certainly was a good performance.
"He is on a free transfer and we'll keep looking at him."
Licka has previously played for Italian outfit Livorno and Czech side Banik Ostrava, before coming to England in a bid to further his career.
He will probably feature in Saints final pre-season friendly against Panathinaikos tomorrow.
However, it is unlikely that Saints other trialist, revealed as Polish midfielder Sebastian Mila of Austria Vienna, will be joining.
