Bale gets Wales call-Chelsea offer £15m

Wednesday, May 17, 2006

Well the first part's true, the second a matter of time!

Saints left-back Gareth Bale, 16, made his debut for the Wales Under-21s in their 1-0 friendly win over Cyprus at Port Talbot on Tuesday, and before the day was out had been elevated to John Toshacks senior squad for the forthcoming internationals against the Basque national side and World Cup qualifiers Trinidad and Tobago.

National boss Toshack watched Bale in the Cyprus game and was hugely impressed with his mature approach, having already become Saints second youngest first-team player last month following Theo Walcott’s appearances earlier in the season.
