Paine to receive 1966 medal

Monday, November 26, 2007

FIFA have ruled that all non-playing squad members of past World Cup winning sides are to receive medals.

Former Sports Minister Richard Caborn has led a campaign for all members of England's 1966 squad to be honoured. All World Cup winning squad members have been honoured in this way since 1978.

The ruling means that Terry Paine, who appeared in a 2-0 win over Mexico, will receive a winner's medal.
