Saints are reported to be lining up a move for former Derby boss Billy Davies should George Burley get the Scotland job. Burley is a strong contender to take the position and if he does then the Saints could move for Davies, who himself was also mooted as a possible contender for the Scots job.
Meanwhile, Burley is refusing to rule himself out of the running when revealing: "It is a great honour that Scotland asked to speak to me and that will happen in the next few days.
"There is a lot to consider. I am very happy at Southampton but if your country asks to speak to you then it is only right to do so."
