Press Release
Easyjet today announced substantial profits - this was despite substantial additional costs incurred, due to a delay to their scheduled 19.55 flight from Newcastle to London Stansted on Saturday evening.
The delay was caused by the late arrival of eight passengers who'd spent rather too much time in a couple of pubs before and at the Deaf Club after a football match in Sunderland at the weekend.
Mr Ray Betts, spokesman for the eight, was heard to say that rumours that he was legless were totally unfounded, he was in fact shoeless after a security check at Newcastle airport, (this not being the first such incident with him almost losing his footwear in Poland on the way to Gdansk a few years ago).
A Father Christmas look-alike who was another member of the group was unavailable for comment, due to being totally out of breathe, after legging to the departure gate just in time to make the plane.
Other members blamed Mr Betts for the delay as he'd told them the plane, left at 20.30, and where just grateful to have by made their flight by the skin of there teeth, thus being spared an unplanned night out in Newcastle.
Many passengers were upset by the flights delay and some didn't get back to Salisbury until 1.05 AM as a result
- Thanks Reg.
