Le Tissier expects takeover to be completed in 3 days

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Matt Le Tissier has revealed that his Pinnacle is now prepared to accept a 10-point penalty in order for the deal to go ahead.
The development comes just 24 hours after administrator mark Fry issued a “grave” warning that he may have to start winding up the club by Friday.
But this afternoon former Saints striker Le Tissier said Pinnacle would meet the Football League on Monday with a view to finalising the deal a day later.
The process of the takeover had been delayed by the Football League's insistence that Southampton's new owners do not appeal the 10-point penalty placed upon them for legal irregularities.
Le Tissier said his consortium was “still 100 per cent committed” to taking over Saints.
His statement added: "We're very confident that the issues with the Football League can be resolved on Monday, even if it means conceding on the right of appeal to the ten-point penalty.
"I personally have friends at the football club who have not been paid this month and I want them to know every effort is being made to conclude this as quickly as possible.
"We hope to finalise the deal by Tuesday at the latest."
