Portsmouth coach Joe Jordan is a shock contender to leave Pompey and take over at rivals Southampton.
Jordan, 56, has been interviewed for the vacant post as Saints look to replace George Burley, who is now in charge at Scotland.
Steve Cotterill, Kevin Blackwell and John Gregory are also in the frame.
But Jordan - who played up front for Saints in the mid-1980s - is a surprise addition to the shortlist.
