It all got too much for some.
Nothing to do with the fine wine on offer but Quinny had just tired himself out with his non-stop talking in the Terry Paine suite prior to Saints’ excellent win over Bristol City.
Even Big Lawrie struggled to get a word in at times although he did manage to blame us for allowing Rupert Lowe into the ground!
Our 30th birthday celebration proved to be an excellent day. Obviously the result helped and there were a number of ex-Saints in our company – Claus Lundekvam, Michael Svensson, Manny Andrusweski, Forbes Phillipson-Masters, Cliff Huxford and Jim Steele were all in attendance with Big Jim in particularly fine form.
We were treated to a tour of the dressing room areas prior to the game and met Nigel Pearson and Jason Dodd.
Even news from Wembley or Aintree failed to put the mockers on a fine day.
Chris Perry was voted the suite ‘man of the match’ and accepted his award before having to endure a group photo with the motley crew.
The excellent champers and wine was swapped for the garbage they call beer in ‘The Angel’ and that was all I remember!
