Saints have been hit by the news Reading boss Steve Coppell is considering taking loan defender Alan Bennett back to the club.
Coppell is looking to add cover to his squad for when Andre Bikey and Ibrahima Sonko go away on African Nation Cup duty, presuming they are both picked.
Their absence would leave Coppell short of central defender so he is considering recalling Bennett, who has been in fine form of late, from his spell at St Mary's which is due to expire next month, and Sam Sodje who is at Championship rivals Charlton until the end of the season.
"They could come back in January, it's a question of seeing how they're doing”, said Coppell.
