The sad occasion of Bob 'Clydie Weekes' funeral took place last Friday at Charing Crematorium, near Ashford, Kent.
An estimated 200 people crammed into the crematorium, testament to the esteem in which he was held by the many friends and colleagues from the various walks of life with which he was involved. Bob would have no doubt had a chuckle when the vicar announced his allegience to Pompey!
As well as his fellow Saints fans there were a wide circle of friends including those from his years with the railway, his involvement with the Freemasons organisation, his 'Bat and Trap' team, and the charity work he did through his local hospital following his early retirement.
The request from Lynda, Bob's sister, was for no flowers but donations to two appropriate worthy causes; 'The League of Friends' at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and St Catherine's Hospice in Lostock Hall, Preston where he was due to spend his final days before being taken from us so prematurely.
London Saints intend to make a donation and would welcome any contributions from Clydie's friends. We could then send this as one payment which would then be evenly split between the two organisations.
Please forward to our treasurer, Nick Head with cheques made out to 'LSSC'. His details are on the contacts page.
