I understand that it was not the inability to launch a challenge to the 10 point deduction that made Pinnacle withdraw their bid, but more to do with the fact that the Football League are threatening to deduct a whole load more points (a la Luton), which would make relegation to League 2 in the 2010/11 season an absolute certainty - so who can really blame them?

Pete Simpson summed up alot of what I am feeling - if a stadium like St Marys is demolished and a club the size of southampton folds then there is something rotten in footballs heart

ps i think we all suspected that anyway

This is one of the worst rollercoaster rides I’ve ever been on.
- Initially the despair of Saints going into administration and losing 10 points.
- To hope as it appeared Pinnacle would save us.
- Then great excitement as it was suggested Keegan may return as manager.
- Next a little concern over alleged minor problems regarding right to appeal and a few contractual points (according to Pinnacle)
To real concern as Pinnacle withdraw.
Is the end of the ride or is there hope around the corner?
This morning according to the Echo talks are at an advanced stage with Swiss consortium, and Solent suggests everything could be signed and sealed tomorrow.
It’s difficult to get too excited as we’ve had so many false dawns already, but even though we no nothing about Swiss Consortium I don’t care as long as this club that means so much to us all survives that’s all the matters at the moment.
Further to the above got interviewed by BBC Radio Wiltshire this morning along with Nick Holmes. It was very interesting hearing his views on Saints, I’ve never heard him so emotional about Saints, he like us is a lifelong Saints fans and he was really concerned that we may go out of existence, but was hopeful, as we all are, that someone will come in and save this great club.

The withdrawal of Pinnacle did not entirely surprise me. The process for them to deliver was taking far too long, and while you have to fight your own corner, the attempted challenge to the 10 point penalty did not help. Who knows what is happening now. Will this Swiss consortium come up trumps? Will there be any friendlies to play?
It will not be long before the Football League draw the line on Saints.

What a shambles. Pinnacle withdraws at the last minute – what a waste of 2 months. The players report back for training but there’s no manager and no buyer.

As if the weather is not enough to make one sweat! Things are far too tight and by tomorrow morning it seems that everyone of any use may well have abandoned ship.
I don't know anything about this Swiss consortium and are the football league thinking of putting a nail in the coffin by deducting more points for the ongoing uncertainty to finally get rid of us? I have no confidence that anything other than extinction is now likely.
Is it too late to get a team in the Conference with everybody else moving up if a new club has to rise from the ashes?
New manager? No senior players so just a bunch of kids with no coaches.
Michael Jackson has departed, is Gary Glitter busy at the moment? At least we could all get pissed and shout and swear a lot if he is about. Can't imagine myself releasing the stresses of life and letting the hair down so much if I am birdwatching in Norfolk!
Seriously, if we do survive my some miracle at the last minute then Peter Reid comes to mind. I don't want Keegan or Hoddle near the place for the way they treated us. Really though I can just see myself sitting in the Guide Dog on some Saturday afternoons and just having to forego the 90 minutes of annoyance that often puncuated a good afternoon!
Fed up with this - why us? Surely we are not the club with the worst financial situation in the UK? Draw a line under every club, show their assets and liabilities as they really are and get our national game back to basics again when people at last realise the whole structure is just a stupid game of monopoly played with paper money by playboys, gun runners and war criminals and laughed at by telly addicts who have forced us to pay for their laziness by supporting the likes of Sky and Sentanta whilst we lose work and money following our team due to stupid kick off times.
This seems all so pointless - somebody say something sensible please!

So what are the "on-going issues with the Football League" that made Pinnacle pull out?
