It wasn't surprising that only a small travelling contingent made the trip to Wolves on a cold Tuesday night but there were still enough of them to come up with the usual mantra of 'your support is ****ing ****' - to which home supporters could have responded with 'your support has stayed at home.'
Southampton were still without Pearce and the injury curse soon struck again when Idiakez pulled up lame and surprised at least one observer by trotting off the pitch and down the tunnel before Euell could ready himself from the bench.
Euell played his part in a first half that Saints may have shaded thanks to their passing game, but as usual we were let down by a pedestrian approach. The injury news at the interval was even worse as Davis couldn't continue and was replaced by Poke for the biggest 45 minutes of his career so far. Saints had to defend a bit deeper than usual, but it was an effective barrier, and apart from a dodgy attempt at a catch, the keeper was well protected. Unfortunately a lapse of concentration when Davies and Thomas failed to make a decisive move, let Ebanks-Blake in for a 60th minute goal.
Nigel finally lost patience with Saganowski and brought on McGoldrick, and after Hennessey saved brilliantly from Euell the move paid off with a penalty for a foul on the later substitute. After an injury delay, Vignal dispatched the spot kick.
Vignal was caught out on the break and was cautioned for attempting (but failing) to haul back Keogh, and then almost immediately got involved in a tussle with Ebanks-Blake over a throw-in. I haven't seen the replay, but from where I was, it was a handbags incident, but with Vignal the more aggressive. I saw no signal from the linesman, so I assume the consultation by the referee was to confirm what he saw, and Vignal's card was a straight red. Things threatened to get out of hand when Licka was booked for delaying the self same throw and then Viafara threw a tantrum, with some cause, when he emerged with the ball only to find the referee stopping play for a drop ball. It was 9:35 when a left wing cross was headed down by the extra man to Ebanks-Blake for Wolves' second.
Saints tried to respond, but few expected a corner in the last seconds of injury time to do the trick - but it did, thanks to Euell's header. Only a point again, but somehow this felt more like a win.

LSSC Man of the Match: Jermaine Wright. The under fire player started out of position at right back, and ended at left back. With the available squad beginning to look small, we should appreciate his versatility.
ยท Nigel Pearson:
"What pleased me most is the collective spirit to come back twice and level in the dying seconds.
"That is testament to the spirit in the camp. To come back twice with 10 men and having lost players through injury is hugely encouraging.
"There are things we can do better, but at least we are becoming hard to beat."
